The AVIS Portal
AVIS Online
After a two year experiment 2005-2006 designed to
test the relative value of the internet and disc (CD/DVD) as
delivery vehicles it is clear that broadband internet is the
natural medium for AVIS to pursue. As a result, we strongly encourage
our worldwide user community to work with us in further developing
the AVIS online portal.
Subscriber Benefits
Subscribers will continue to benefit
from the policy of continuous review and publication. Additional
features such as a subscriber blog and online mentoring will
also be available in 2007.
Editorial Policy
Editorial policy is unchanged: all programs are peer-reviewed, a process which
also includes close collaboration with appropriate international reference
laboratories, and with the AVIS Consortium partners.
Experts and Peer Reviewers
AVIS programs are written by leading experts from all over the
world, led from the AVIS College in London. Initiated in 1992, the College
brings together an experienced team of leading experts and practitioners
as an oversight body for AVIS activities and publications.
All AVIS programs are now kept under rolling review, and on-line versions are updated regularly. Programs are also subjected to independent peer review, and to field testing and user evaluations.
All programs provide access to authoritative reference information, such as FAO Manuals and the expertise of the designated World Reference Laboratory.
Equity Pricing
The AVIS “Equity Pricing” policy continues. Prices are based on
capacity to pay. Substantial discounts are available to developing countries
and educational establishments. Discounts may be combined. Programs may be purchased
through subscription or a licence payment.
