Make Rabies History
This month we are dedicating our issue of From the Wings to support the first World Rabies Day, September 8, 2007. Since 1997, AVIS has been closely engaged in efforts to turn back the rising tide of rabies, worldwide, inspired by the vision and dedication of Arthur King, the first General Editor of the AVIS suite of rabies programs.
Our programs deal with the evolving situation in Europe, North America, Central and South America (Rabia en las Americas) and world wide.
Thanks also to extensive contributions from leaders in the field, such as Jean Blancou, Michel Aubert, Michel Lombard, Caroline Schumacher and many others, AVIS was the frst to produce a major, peer-reviewed multimedia resource for practitioners in the field. This is also now available to subscribers online.
We welcome and warmly applaud the initiative taken by the Alliance for Rabies Control. Its objective is just what Arthur King had in mind - "make rabies history". And it is that vision that continues to inspire our efforts as well.
